Project Trash to Cash: Take Action Stage (University of Agriculture Makurdi)

PROJECT: TRASH-2-CASH

DURATION: 1 YEAR

COMMUNITY IMPACTED:

WADATA, MAKURDI, BENUE STATE.

DESCRIPTION:

It has been discovered that 470 million tons of wood is used ANNUALLY for fuel. Nigeria has lost over 90% of its forest over the last 100years, with a deforestation rate of 3%.

We thus developed a system that converts agricultural waste or trash into cleaner, purer charcoal that burns without fumes or smoke.

This process adopts the use of pyrolysis where the agric waste is burned in the absence of oxygen , thus reducing any possible smoke or fumes that may occur in the kitchen. That is the making of brickets from all sort of agricultural trash
