It is quite unfortunate that one of the most consumed products in Nigeria is being produced and displayed in an unhygienic manner. This is due to lack of proper production and preparation techniques, not having packaging experience and inadequate knowledge in refining garri into a smooth texture, in order to make extra fine grain garri. Our Enactus team the possibility of a healthier community through healthy food.
Since we discovered that Ohaji Egbema communities know the normal frying of Garri in an unhygienic condition, we taught them the basic skills required for the proper processing and packaging of Garri. This is to enable them provide good texture for consumption and maintain adequate shelve life, which will in turn help provide alternative means of refining our local garri, thereby helping our target rural community to develop new technology in garri processing and packaging.
